The garage door industry is growing, and the demand for people who know how to service and repair these systems is growing along with it. According to FMI Corp, the overhead and garage door market is expected to reach about $16 billion in 2026, with service and maintenance accounting for roughly $9.6 billion
We are feeling that growth here at Alliance! As more homeowners and businesses turn to us for garage door repairs, installations, maintenance, and troubleshooting, we need more experienced people on our team. If you already know the trade, or you have experience in a related skilled trade, this is a good time to take a look at what we are building.
Good Technicians Know How to Find the Problem
Garage door repair is not always as simple as replacing a broken part. A door may stop working because of a spring, cable, roller, track, opener, sensor, or several things happening at once. Figuring out what is actually wrong takes experience and good problem-solving skills.
That is especially important when you are working in someone’s home or business. Customers want someone who knows what they are looking at, can explain the problem clearly, and can repair safely. We have written about common garage door problems and when to call a professional because knowing when something needs attention is an important part of keeping a door operating properly.
We Want Experienced People
We are not looking to hire people just to fill service trucks. We want technicians who take pride in their work and understand what it means to leave a customer’s garage door working properly.
If you have worked on garage doors before, you already know that every call can be a little different. If your background is in mechanical repair, installation, electrical work, or another hands-on trade, you may also have many of the skills that translate well to this work.
We provide training and opportunities to keep learning, but experience matters. The more you understand about how equipment works, the better prepared you are to diagnose a problem and make a good decision when you are standing in front of it.
There Is a Lot to Learn
One thing we like about this business is that there is always something new to learn. Residential doors, commercial doors, openers, springs, tracks, hardware, and other systems all have their own challenges.
Our garage door maintenance guide covers some of the things that affect a door over the course of a year. For technicians, that variety is part of what makes the job interesting. You get to solve problems, work with your hands, meet different customers, and build expertise as you go.
Build Your Career With Alliance
We have served Western Pennsylvania since 2003, and we continue to grow. We want to bring that growth together with a team of people who care about doing good work and treating customers right.
We hire our own technicians rather than relying on subcontractors. That allows our team to build experience with Alliance and grow within the company.
If you have garage door experience, we would like to hear from you. If you have experience in another skilled trade and are looking for an opportunity to learn something new, we would like to hear from you too.
